Troubleshooting Voicefall

Most issues have quick fixes: if nothing appeared after you spoke, your text is safe on the clipboard — paste it with ⌘V / Ctrl V. Below are answers to the most common questions about clipboard behavior, accuracy, the trigger key, opening the app, and the microphone.

Nothing appeared after I spoke?

No text field was focused when the paste happened, so it landed nowhere — but the text is safe on your clipboard. Click into any text field and paste it with ⌘V (Mac) or Ctrl V (Windows). See Usage for how this works.

My previously copied text is gone?

Each transcription overwrites the clipboard by design, so your spoken text is never lost. Voicefall does not restore previous clipboard contents; paste your transcription first, then re-copy what you need.

Mixed Chinese-English isn't accurate?

Check your network connection and microphone. Mixed Chinese-English is a core strength of Voicefall, so try speaking naturally at a normal pace rather than switching languages word by word.

Right Alt doesn't trigger on Windows?

Check that no other app has captured that key. Some keyboard tools, remappers, or games grab Right Alt; close or reconfigure them and try again.

The app won't open on Mac (first time)?

The beta build is not yet notarized by Apple, so the first launch is blocked. Right-click the app → Open → Open again. See the Permissions guide for details.

No sound / mic not working?

Check that Voicefall has system Microphone permission and that the correct input device is selected in your system sound settings.
